In February 2017, we boasted of "The Lord of the Rings" bound in leather on a board with real bindings on the spine in the style of Renaissance knurled bindings created by Krakow craftsmen.
In the mirror of that luminaire there were image knurls with the likenesses of magicians: Gandalf and Saruman, the cruel Sauron and the beautiful Galadriel, characters taken straight from the pages of the book, reproduced with reverence worthy of Renaissance craftsmen-artists. At that time, we also discussed the symbolism of the characters used. After a few months, our world of Tolkien's leather bookbindings expanded to include new titles and image knurls. The covers featured The Hobbit Bilbo Bagins, Elendil, Thalion Hurin and Morgoth.
We will not duplicate conceptual descriptions here.
These luxurious books have been dyed in three color versions, however, the way they are made makes all colors blend nicely on the shelf. So there is no need to collect the series in strictly color order.
Today we would like to introduce you to a collection of books bound in leather by our studio on behalf of one of our clients. A trained eye will notice that 2 volumes, which were to be used by the client as a gift for a loved one, were hand-bound in the so-called. half-leather, i.e. a binding with leather corners and a spine, and hand-made paste paper on the facings. However, this time the whole is stylistically consistent, and the frames are elegant and pleasing to the eye.
We would like to remind you that the total circulation of this version of the binding of "The Lord of the Rings" has been planned for 500 numbered copies. The binding of "The Hobbit" will also be published in 500 copies, while the other titles of the series are planned for 300 copies.
Each copy has a sticker from the Sobieski Antiquarian Bookshop along with an assigned copy number.
Due to the time-consuming production process of such a luminaire, the waiting time for implementation may be 4-8 weeks.
We invite you to place orders.
Currently, our offer includes several copies available immediately!
If you like it, give it a thumbs up:
