The post-war publication of Oficyna Warszawska, which was founded in 1938 by Anatol Girs and Bolesław Barcz in Warsaw, was burned in the Warsaw Uprising of 1944, during which Bolesław Barcz was killed. The work of Tadeusz Borowski, the author of the poems, Wincenty Mackiewicz, the author of the critical preface, and Anatol Girs, a graphic artist and typographer from Warsaw, started immediately after they were liberated from the Dachau-Allach concentration camp by the troops of the 7th American Army, was completed on November 11, 1945. 3,000 numbered copies were printed in Weiss Antiqua font 12 points and 25 copies on Japanese paper with Roman numerals and signed by the poet and the author of the graphic design. This copy has the number 809.
