Franciszka and Stefan Themerson started making experimental films together and were among the most versatile avant-garde artists in the Polish art of the 20th century.

The idea of ​​the avant-garde, as understood by the Themersons, associated their works with the function of developing means to achieve a state of unity of sensory experience and activate the recipient's intellectual abilities. drawing, painting, literary text. This harmonious artistic duo created min. books for kids. The Themersons treated the young reader seriously, their books were supposed to introduce them to the world of knowledge and science, hitherto reserved for adults, to explain it in a friendly way with words and illustrations.
