"The text authorized the artist to use powerful means here, so she gave free rein to her temperament with full gusto and verve. It's unclear what comes to the fore in these illustrations: the joyful color [...], the excellent capture of the situation and movement, or the wit and humor tinged with highlander bawdiness. Skillful vignettes also aptly adorn this one-of-a-kind book, carefully crafted on Japanese paper." (M. Gronska "Zofia Stryjenska", Wr. 1991, p. 16))
