Poland through the eyes of Pawel Jasienica.
Poland of the Piasts, Poland of the Jagiellonians and the Commonwealth of Both Nations is a famous series of historical essays written by Paweł Jasienica. Books written in a colorful, vivid language, with a specific approach to history. Jasienica does not write about dry facts, but puts forward bold theses, analyzes and explores the subject, and draws a faithful historical background. As the author himself says - the books he writes do not claim the status of scientific works, are not textbooks or popularize science. These are ordinary essays which enjoy the same rights as drama, poetry, and novel. The Poland of the Piasts is - according to the author's own words - a free literary story about the history of Poland in the period of the formation of its statehood. The Jagiellonian Poland, in turn, shows a comprehensive vision of political events, social and cultural life during the reign of the title Jagiellonian dynasties. The Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth is a description of the turbulent history of pre-partition Poland. This series has enjoyed - and still is - enormous popularity of subsequent generations of readers, as evidenced by subsequent editions. The author is considered one of the best historical writers of our time. Today we are honored to present our vision of the book binding of this work, the inspiration of which should be sought mainly in the covers of old prints, but also in the works of the famous bookbinder Helena Karpińska. The binding is made of natural sheepskin leather with deep, clearly noticeable embossments and modest gilding. The binding is quite austere, with modest, but very effective decorations. The crowned eagle in the mirror of the covers. Convex ties on the back. The interiors of the covers are finished with a decorative pattern. Decorative marbled paper on end papers. Stained card cuts. Two color versions: - natural leather with blind embossing and decorations dyed red.
- hand-dyed leather with embossing and modest gilding.
