"Hobbit" J.R.R. Tolkien – classic literature in the leather bounding
Continuing the theme of Tolkien's book in leather boundings, we present today our idea for the setting of this masterpiece of fantasy literature.
Of course, this is the first edition of The Hobbit in Polish, which was published by Iskry in 1960, translated by Maria Skibniewska. The translation is still the best and classic today.
The Hobbit, or there and back, is a fairytale, well thought out in every detail, a world full of strange, fantastic creatures and colorful characters and their fascinating adventures.
The hero is the title hobbit, "being larger than the liliputa, but less than the dwarf", open to the world, full of empathy and goodness, however, not to be brave but courageous, good and clever.
The book tells of an expedition undertaken by Thorin's company to the Smaug-haunted Dragon Mountain occupied by the dragon in order to kill him and retrieve the dwarf's former dwelling. On the way, in Gollum's cave, Bilbo Baggins finds the One Ring that once belonged to the Dark Lord of Sauron. The ring gave Bilb the power to be invisible.
The Hobbit is looking for answers to the basic questions about the source of good and evil and is also an introduction and invitation to Tolkien's most famous The Lord of the Rings Trilogy.
The books have been bound in natural leather. On the front a reddish-skinned dragon imitated on the basis of the author's drawings and contrasting with the leather color. On the back cover the emblem of the Gondor Kings and Elvish inscriptions embossed blindly. On the spine, raised bands, stamping and gilding, coloured edges. A set of Tolkien's books in a unique, luxury binding.
