Bronislaw Linke- [1906-1962] polish painter and graphic artist, creating engaged art, with a strong moralistic , compositions on political and social themes, member of the artistic group Loza Wolnomularska. A friend of Witkiewicz's. After the outbreak of World War II, he had to flee to Lviv with his wife because of the caricatures of Hitler that he created for the press and then further into Russia. In 1942, he was exiled to Orsk in the Urals, returning to Poland only in 1946. After returning to Warsaw, he created his most famous series Stones Screaming (1946-56).It was a terrifying vision of the ruins of the capital. Reproductions of works from this series have been published in 1959, with an introduction by Maria Dabrowska. In the post-war period, he rarely showed his works, his art did not correspond to the reality of the time.
