A city without a name - a volume of poems by Czesław Miłosz, published in 1969 by the Literary Institute in Paris as the 178th volume of the "Kultura" Library.
The volume contains poems written in the years 1961-1969 mainly in Berkeley, most of them previously published in the pages of the Paris-based Kultura and the London Oficyna Poetów.
The collection includes fifteen poems and three poems:
A city without a name - the title piece in which the poet evokes Vilnius, Mickiewicz, Słowacki, Syrokomla and Miłosz himself from the American perspective,
On the trumpets and on the zither - expresses the Dionysian praise of existence, ecstatic delight with the Paradise world. In an interview with Ewa Czarnecka, the poet explained: “In any case, these are very Dionysian poems. Each poem is some kind of ecstatic experience. It is rapture with the beauty of the world ",
Written in the early morning with unbound speech - a series of 9 poems, mainly programmatic (Ars poetica ?, My faithful speech).
A novelty in the collection are religious poems, for example: Veni Creator, Im more, How you endured.
