Zofia Stryjenska, (Born in 1891, died in 1976) - painter, graphic artist, illustrator, set designer, fabric, poster, and toy designer; associated with Warsaw and Zakopane.
She was the most renowned Polish visual artist of the interwar period, along with Tamara lempicka.
Dubbed the "princess of Polish art" (Mieczyslaw Grydzewski – "Wiadomości Literackie"), she was a member of the artistic group Rytm.
She primarily used tempera painting techniques, but also explored lithography, drawing, and posters. She designed toys and decorative fabrics, and was an author of book illustrations.
Her most famous works include: Pastoralka (Pastoral), the cycle "Slavic Gods" and "Passover," and illustrations for Krasicki's "Monachomachia," "Seasons," "Christmas Carols," "Four Sacraments," and "Polish Dances."
