The Divine Comedy (Italian: La Divina Commedia) is a poem written by the Italian writer Dante Alighieri between 1308 and 1321. The Divine Comedy is a synthesis of medieval philosophical, historical, and theological thought, as well as a panorama of the world. As a masterpiece of Italian literature, it is a world classic and has had a significant influence on European culture.
The copy offered contains the first complete Polish translation of the work to appear in print.
The first translation was made in 1804 by Franciszek Wigma, but due to the lack of approval from the Warsaw Society of Friends of Science, it was never published.
