First edition of the last pre-war poetry volume by a co-founder of Polish Futuryzm and one of the leading representatives of the national literary Awangarda of the interwar period.
The volume has a cross-sectional character, comprising both works from the classical phase of Futurism (1918–1922) and later poems (1932–1933), clearly illustrating the evolution of the poet’s style. The collection includes texts originally published in leading avant-garde journals and ephemeral publications such as “Formisci”, “Jednodniowka futurystyczna”, “Nuz w bzhuhu”, Zwrotnica and “Reflektor”.
The early works display characteristic features of Futurism: linguistic experimentation, disruption of syntax, dynamic imagery, and a pursuit of new expressive forms. The later poems, by contrast, reveal a departure from radical avant-garde principles—introducing rural themes and a more ordered, disciplined form, reflecting broader transformations within Polish avant-garde literature of the 1930s.
Binding and design:
Original softcover, designed in the spirit of modern interwar graphic art, showing clear connections with avant-garde typography. The composition reflects influences of Futurism and circles associated with “Zwrotnica”, while at the same time limiting the most radical formal experiments in favor of clarity and functionality. It represents a late, moderated phase of avant-garde aesthetics in book design.
Condition: good/very good; title and half-title pages with losses, reinforced with paper; trace of tape along the inner hinge of the front cover.
