Private Duties - a collection of essays by Czesław Miłosz, published in 1972 by the Literary Institute in Paris as the 215th volume of the "Kultura" Library. The first official national edition was published in 1990.
A collection of sketches, comments, essays and translations, reflections on one's own intellectual and poetic origin, personal notes and memories. It is another attempt to search for a "more capacious form", going beyond the existing literary genres. Essays and translations were written mainly in Berkeley in 1960-1970. The title of the collection comes from the sketch Private duties towards Polish literature.
